LECTURE AT DREYERTOWN.

" Robert Burns, the man and bis writings " was the subject of a lecture delivered last nigbt by the'TSev. Robert Wood in the Dreyertown Church. There was a large attendance, the building being filled. Mr Wood, in the course of his address, sketched the life of the poet, criticised his character, and gave an analysis of his genius. The following pieces ware sung to illustrate the lecture:—"Ye Banks and Braes," by Mrs Bannister; '• Duncan Gray," by Miss Johnstone J " Afton Water," by Mrs Wood; " Rantin Robin," and *• My Love is like a Red Rose," by Mrs Dougall; " My Nannie's Awa'," by Mr Worboys; " A man's a man for a' that," and "John Anderson," by Mr D. McGregor. In addition to these solos, the following ladies and gentlemen assisted in choruses: —Mrs A. Stewart, Misses Day, McGregor, and Sage, and Messrs Parkinson and Giles. During the evening the Misses Cameron played a piano duet and Miss M. Cameron a piano solo. The most of the piano accompaniments were played with great taste by Miss Fiest.
