The following have been appointed inspecting assessors under the Land and Income Tax Assessment Act of last sessioD : T. Calcutt, Otago and Southland; W. C. Walker, O'.ago; C. D. Kenny, Hawke's Bay; E. A.Campbell, West Coast of North Island. None have yet been appointed- for Auckland. "It is not, however, compulsory to make these appointments by the Act, but it is thought better. The assessment will be Becured by having men with a local knowledge to confer with. It is notintended to appoint assessors for the Boroughs. The above named had a first meeting a f the Property Tax Office this week.
