An attempt was made yesterday and this morning to tow the Wanaka from the place where she was stranded, but though afloat when the tide was in. something held the vessel in tho centre, which I hot from being moved from the spot. Another attempt is to be made to* morrow morning. If then not successful, further work will bo done with a view to clearing her from the obstacle which prevents her moving.

VMonloChristchuech, June 22. _ The Masonic Grand Lodge of Now Zealand has received a lettor from' the Grand Lodge of Kansas, C.S., extending fraternal recognition arid assurance of support in their efforts to establish and maintain independent supreme Musonic power in the Colony. The letter states. that the Grand Lodge of Kansas has also shown recognition to the Grand Lodge of Tasmania.
