COMMERCIAL.
Mr J lorns (in conjunction with Mr Briggs) reports of their sale of stook at Pabiatua on Saturday :—The entries, with the exception of sheep, were in excess of advertised list, tbe absence of two lines of sheep being due to the flooded state of the. rivers. Those penned were of good quality, and sold freely at rates equal to previous sdes. All clashes of cattle were represented, steers being scarce and much enquired for. With the exception of 2or 3 cows, all sold under the hammer at the following prices :—Butcher's wethers, medium and light weights, 18s (3d; store wethers, 12s Sd; store ewes, lis; fat ewes, 12s 6d; beef cows, 72s 6d to 75s ; fat heifers, 50s to 655; store steers, small, 50s to 625 ; 2 jear heifers, 42s 6d; 18 month cattle, 85s; yearlings, 27s 6d; calves, 20s ; dairy stook of poor quality, • 50a to 70s, horses, nominal.. A consignment of fruit and ornamental trees concluded the sale.
