New Plymouth, Wedneßda/. The Manager at the Petroleum works intends to-day to case down the. well to its bottom, so as to shut off all the water and then to pump. The oil thai accumulates during the day will give a good idea of the value of the indications. Until this test is made it is no use speculating in oil which bo far comes off the surface water. Samples of the petroleum have been tested by the local chemist and found to be exceedingly good.
