The Autumn Meeting, under the! auspices of the Wairarapa Racing Club, was held on the Tauherenikau course yesterday (Easter Monday) under the most favorable circumstances. The weather, thanks to the prognostications of Captain Edwin to tbe contrary, was all that could be desired, the fiery rays of " Old Sol " being tempered by a pleasant breeze. Tbe course was in good condition, and better racing than that witnessed yesterday has not been seen for some time. The attendance of the public, as might have been expected, was exceptionally good, visitors being present from Wellington and all parts of the Valley. The arrangements for the meeting were carried out without a hitch, the success of the gathering reflecting the greatest credit upon the Stewards and the indefatigable Secretary (Mr W. Bock). As usual, the great attraction was the totalisator, which was well patronised by the public, no less than £2870 being put through. The racing on the whole was good, some of the finishes being really exciting, Mr Tbos. H. Hill was unfortunately unable to wield the flag, and the duties of starter therefore devolved upon Mr W. Cundy, who got the fields away fairly well 'together. Good order was maintained throughout the day, and although Constable Eccleton and a posse of police were present, their services were not required. The publican's booths run by Mr Wilkinson did arattling "biz," whilst Mr Whyte, who catered tha more solid refreshments, should have no cause for complaint. Messrs Grigg Bros', outside refreshment booth, and Mr Cook's fancy stall were also well patronised. The proceedings were enlivened by the dulcet strains of the Featherston Brass Band, which was assisted by players from Masterton and elsewhere. Those of a speculative turn of mind were afforded an opportunity of investing their shillings on the " Spinning Jinney," the many advantages of which were proclaimed in stentorian tones by their respective owners. Altogether the meeting wa3 one of the most successful ever held m the Wairarapa. The following are the results of the races in the order in which they were run:—

On passing the stand | Lone Hand was still in the lead, with General Gordon and Argo together' close up. Argo then challenged the leader, but shortly afterwards dropped back, and was replaced by General Gordon, the whole field taking every hurdle, In the home turn.
