Whakataki-Tenui Rifle Club.

A meeting was held at the Tenui Hotel on Saturday evening last to consider the advisability of giving a Rifle (Jlub ball. A large number of members were present. Mr A. MoHutcheon was voted to the chair, and explained the object of the meeting'. It was unanimously resolved "That a Rifle Club Ball be given on Wednesday, 25th February next, tickets to be six shillings each aud ladies free. The following committee was then appointed to carry out the arrangements :—Messrs H. Elder (President), W. Langton, H. Lawson, A. Murray, A. McHutcheon, C. J. Norton, A. H. Read, J. Osborne, 1). Speedy, A. Speedy, and J. Sutherland. The first committee meeting was fixed for Saturday evening next, and the meeting adjourned with a vote o£ thanks to the Chairman. At a meeting of the Executive Committee held the same evening, Messrs W. Dalziel and S. Kingsbury were elected members. The Club now numbers over fifty members and contains some excellent marksmen, being represented at the N.Z. Rifle Association meeting by Messrs W. Speedy and W. Pickett, whose names will be found as prize winners in a number of recent matches.

A friendly match has been fixed for Saturday, 7th February, at the Tenui range between the Whakataki and Tenui members, when a large attendance is expected.
