Demaresq Variety Company.

The Deraaresq Australian Variety Oompany made its first appearanco in Masterton last evening, when, notwithstanding unfavourable circumstances, a good house greeted the rise of the curtain at the Theatre Royal, The -programme was lengthy and varied, and every part was sustained with more than ordinary credit to the performers. Indeed we may fairly say that those who did not patronise the company missed a genuine treat, The doublo horizontal bar performance of tho Demaresq Brothers was exceedingly clever, as was also tho treble-trapeze act, inwhioh Mr\V Milligan lent valuable assistance. The tumbling, juggling, and balancing of the olowns (Messrs Denmosq) showed their wonderful aptitude in this direction. The ballad, comic, and dramatic singing of Messrs Bead, Fitzgerald, M'Dermotfc, and Harry Hall provoked enthusiastic applause, the iatter by his funny style keeping tho audience in roars oflaughther, The performance was concluded by what the programme well described the'! button-bursting" farce, i! The Mammoth Eevival," the parts being ably sustained by Messrs Fitzgerald, Bead, M'Dermott, and Harry Hall, The second aud last performance of this talented oompany will be given to nigh);, when there will be an entire change of programme.
