During tho discussion at the I Mining Conference ou theKaitangata rolief'fund, Mr G. S. Gillies said it i would bo about two years before the children wero off the relief fund,. The amount raised was £15,379,'0f which £Bl9 had been paid for funeral expenses, debts ot families, etc,, till tho execulivo. was appointed. The balance had been invested, and since then there ,had beon expended in direct relief. f 14,C31, which came within £lB4 of tho original fund, Of capital there remained over £II,OOO.

At the Railway Employees".Coilferonoo last iiighfc, the 'following' resolutions veto carried: - (1) That the Conference expresses sympathy with tho employees, and that any branch uso its own discretion in sending assistance to employees; (2) thai the minimum standard of wages per day for skilled employees on New Zealand railways be 93, and on the West Coast 10s.
