Suicide of a Girl.
An inquest was held at Booligal, near Wagga Wngga, recently, on the remains of Isabella Turner, agid seventeen. The mother of deceased stated that she reproved her daughter for slapping her brother, mid corrected her. Tho girl then went to the kitchen, and after the lapse of ten minutes tho mother heard tin girl crying " Mamma." She then came into the room and said " 1 have taken poison. Deceased showed her mother the medicino chest, from which sho had taken tho contonts of tho bottle of strychnine Tho & mother gave her nearly two ounces * of ipecacuana wine, but tho girl took a fit and died in convulsions, In answor to a question as to why she took poison, deceased only replied, "My God!" When reproved, deceased said," If I am not to beat . them, I'll have nothing to do with them." The following verdict was j returned:—" Deceased, Isabella Mc- , Voy Turner, look a dose of strych- i nine while laboring under temponry excitement, caused by chastisement received from her mother, thinking thereby to alarm her mother, but not to commit suicide."
