Rushed by a Bull. Auckland, October 25, A serious accident happened to-day near Ohaupo, in llieWaikato, to Mrs Hill, wife of John Hill, a settler. Whilst she was in the stockyard a bull ruslipd at her knocked her down and gored her, breaking a rib. Her son, a little boy, seized au iron bat and drove away the beast, The woman is recovering, Labourers Union. Dunedin, October 25. After a week's sitting, the representatives of the wharf labourers from all parts of the Colony have succeeded in forming a united body for the whole of Now Zealand under the title of the Federated Wharf Labourers of New Zealand. Up to the present close on 1000 men havebeen enrolled. The head oflice is in Dunedin, and branches have been formed in Port Chalmers, Lyttolton, Wellington, Auckland and Timaru, Another meeting is being held to form a Maritime Council, consisting of representatives from the Seamen's Union, Deniiiston and Brainier Coalminers' Union, Auckland, Wellington, Lyttolton, and Dunedin Wharf Labourers' Union, Westport andGreymouth Labour Union, representing about 8,000 men. The basis of a constitution for amalgamation and for defence purposes has been drawn and approved and rules drafted for the government of the Council, which will regulate all
disputes and strikes which may arise, Mr J. A, Miller is secretary pro tern, It is proposed to hold a meeting next week to form a Trades and Lata Council for Dunedin on a similai basis to the Victorian Council.
THE PREMIER. Wellington, Saturday. The Premier leaves for Nelson in the Hinemoa to-morrow night. He will be absent a fortnight, A welcome use Auckland October 25. A resolution was agreed to by the Board of Education today, raising by £lO a year the salaries of the teachers classified under D and E who have been in the employ of the Board for 5, G, or 8 years.
