DOUBLE VOTING.

Oamahu, October 25, A mail named Edward Pickett was today charged at the Resident Magis trate's Court with voting at two dillerent colling booths on the occasion of tho election of a member for Oamaru to the House of Representatives, Evidence was given to show that the accused was the man. who applied for voting papers, and bis number on the roll had been marked off at two booths. The accused was described as a Maori, but it is said that he is a Peruvian, Ajter hearing evidence, the case was adjourned till to-morrow to hear the defence.

A Totalisator Bankrupt Auckland, October 2a. During an examination beforo the Official Assignee, William Adams, a totalisator proprietor, a bankrupt, deposed that for t|ie last seven years lie been working totalisators in connection with race meetings in the Auckland district, and up to March 1880, lie made an average profit of of £BOO a year.
