Messrs Weddell and Co, London, report on September 6: —New Zealand hemp has sold with better spirit of late, the available stock being light, though some 8500 to 4000 bales are now in dock in various vossels awaiting discharge. At auction held on Ith instant 230 bales Now Zealand hemp were offered and CO bales sold at an advance of LI to L2 por ton on recent rates, Fair Wellington made L 27 10s to L2B 15s ; L2B 0s to L2B 10s for medium Christeliurch; fine Auckland mado L!JO to L 34, Tow sold at L 5 and L 7 per ton, according to quality.
