CRICKET.
The annual meeting of the Masterton Club was held in Mr W. G. Beard's office last evening, and was well attended. The minutes of the last meeting wereread and confirmed. The report and balanoe-sheet, which was adopted, showed that the Club had had a successful season and that it was on a sound financial position, During the season ten matches had been played, seven of which were won and three lost, The receipts for the year amounted to I'M 15s Bd, expenditure 125' i2s 4d, leaving a balanoo of 3s -Id, which, with the assets, will place the Club in a much better position than it had at tho beginning of the previous season.
The following batting and bowling averages. of the first eleven wero read:—Batting: H. K, Mathias, 20'8; 0, Perry, 16-8; liev, T, McKcnna, 9-5; F. G. Moore, 9'B; G. H. Smith, 9-; W. McKenzie, 8:5; W. Iggulden, 7'6;C. A. PowniU, 7'5; 0. E. Bromner, 6-1; D. Jackson, h.
Bowling.—W, Iggulden, 4'2; 0, Perry, 4-0; W. McKenzie, 7.G; C. A. Pownall, 9'2; H. R. Mathias, 10'8. Mathias therefore takes the bat presented, by Mr W. G. Beard, and Iggulden wins tho trophy for bowling. The following officers wero elected fw the ensuing term: President, Mr P, G. Mooro ; Vice Presidents, Mr W- Q. Beard and Colonel Roberts; Secretary, Mr k. D'Aroy; Treasurer, Mr C. W.Perry; Match, Ground, and General Committees, combined, Messrs 0. A, Pqwnali, H. J. Haigb, C, B. Bremner, 0, W, Perry, aud AD'Aroy; Practice Captain, Mr C. W. Perry, The electbn of captain was left to each team, The members' subscription was fixed at 10s 6d, and it was resolved that the Club continue in the Association for the present, Messrs Pownall and' Perry being appointed to attend the first meeting. Tho opening of the season was fixfljl for Saturday, 19th hist, with a match Married v single. ' .■ The meeting then adjourned.
