R.M. COURT.
MASTEBTOM-TOBBDAY (before Col. Roberts R.M.) ABSCONDING FROM HIS CREDITORS. C. E. Beckmannwaabvoughtupintho R,M, Court at 10 a.ui, on Monday, charged with having attempted to evade his creditors by leaving the colony, takin? with him the sum of £2OO.
N Mr Bunny appeared for the informant (tho Deputy Official Assignee), and applied for a remand till Thursday in order to enable witnesses to come down from Eketahuna.
Mr Beard, for the defence, offered no objection bo long as tho convenience of the i/reatest number of persons concerned was consulted. Tho application was granted, Mr Beard asked for bail, and pointed out that the assets in the estate oxeeeded tho liabilities, and that thero was therefore no necessity to fix it at more than a merely nominal amount. Bail was allowed, accused to enter into recognizances for 1160 and two sureties of £75 each. Mr Beard thought thero was no necessity to fix such high bail, Mr Bunny thought that as the accused had cashed a cheque for over £SOO before leaving, he should find no difficulty in tho matter, as ho might, hand over tho balance still remaining in his possession. The Court was adjourned till Thursday,
