_ In the House yesterday afternoon a discussion took place over the WardChristie case, and a long explanation was given by the Colonial Secretary. At the evening sitting tho Premier moved that the House at its rising adjourn till Monday evening at 7,30 for Government busiuess only. Mr Idirnack moved as an amendment that the business for Monday evening be the appointment of a committee to investigate the matter of the Ward Christie correspondence. The amendment was taken as a direct want of confidence motion by the Premier, and on a division was negatived by 40 to 8G votes. "
