Auckland, August 9. A case of interest to racing men has been decided by the Resident Magistrate, JDr Giles. Some time ago the horse' Whalebone started for a race in Auckland, but before he could start the owners, Perry and another, had to pay Mr Percival, Secretary of tho Auckland Racing Club, certpin moneys owing by Chadwich, tho previous owner of the horse. Mr Perry had given a cheque and had stopped the payment of it, as he disputed the right of tho Club to claim tho money from him and his partner. Mr Percival sued for the amount represented by the cheque, and judgment was given in his favour.

Tho Auckland Eacing Club propose to give £0990 away in added money at their four meeting!) next season. This is an increase of £430 upon last year's amount, The Auckland Cup remains at .£SOO sovs, but the Racing Club Handicap and Great Northern Steeplechase have each been increased to 300 sovs, Mr E. Mitchelson was elected president, MrA.JK. Taylor vice-president, Mr J. O. Evett handicapper, Mr John Kirkwood judge, and Mr J. S. Buckland starter. The Club have decided to throw tho gates open to the publio at the ensuing spring meeting.
