R.M. COURT.

EKETAHUNA—SATURDAY (Before Messrs Anderson and ■ Davy, J.P.'s) Mr Matheson was charged by •Robert Murrell, ranger, with rescuing a horse, while being driven to the pound. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and in doing so stated that he wished the caso to be tried as a test caso as several people had stated that the ranger lmd taken liaises out of the bush and impounded them, Robert Murrell sworn said lie saw a liorsa on tho Alfre(]ton Boad. In trying to catch the animal it went off the road into the bush. Witness jumped over a fence and cut across to prevent the horse going too far. Caught the horse, and in taking it to the pound Mr Matlieson stopped him, and claiming the horse as his. Asked him for the feo and defendant refused to pay.

By the Bench: The horse was two chains in tho bush before I caught it. Defendant took tho horse lrom me and put it into the RoaS Board enclosure.

Mr Von Reden sworn, stated " I saw a horse on the road opposite the Road Board office and told the ranger." Defendant stated he merely wished to know if the ranger could take cattle out of the bush.

The Bench ruled that in this caso the horse was mtherangor's custody before it got into thebush. Fined Is and costs.

Mary Jane Beckman v Mary McNealo, Assault. Case adjourned lo this day week.

The ordinary meeting of the above Board was held on the 27th July, 1889, Present—Messrs William Jessen (chairman), Hugh W, Jackson, John Bannister, Clwles Forshorg, and Gunder Gundeim The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, Correspondence—Prom County Clerk re statement of returns, From Clerk Eketahuna Road Board re adjusting boundaries, From Surveyor General re Native rates. From Chairman Eangitumau Boad District rejannexatioii of part of that district. Resolved that this Board is willing to annex the part proposed by the Chairman of the Rangitumau Road Board, Ppsolyed tliat the Native rates J)8 spent pi) Mpunt Munro through the Native Reserve. Resolved thatthe boundnries between

the Mauricevillo and Eketahuna Eoad Board be accepted as follows! From south-west corner of nection 21, blook 14, Tararua Survey District a line on the same being parallel with the old boundary line to tha Tararua ranges. Follow south boundries of sections 21,22,28 south boundary, section 1, 13 14, south boundary of section 171, B 13, Mangaone ;south and east boundaries of sections 135, 140, and 68, Block XIV Mangaone ; follow road to school reserve. West boundary section CO, block 15, Maugaone, west boundary of section 19, block 111, Kopuaranga boundary of jßangituman Eoad District. Accounts amounting to £23 Is lid were passed' for payment. Messrs Bannister and Forsberg were appointed-to sign cheques, Jho collector reported rates collected from June 29th to date L4l4s 3d, The Treasurer reported the credit balance of L16516s 9£d. Eesolved that the Chairman be empowered to purohase tha necessary.articles of furniture for the Board's Office.
