Freeman E. Jackson's Johnsonville stock report Our yards to-day contained in number about tho usual supply of cattle necessary for tho requirements of the market, including a moderate proportion of cows and heifers. Wo have had to report lately upon the inferiority of the quality and condition of tho beef sent forward. To-day, unfortunately, the bullocks proved to be no improvement upon late supplies, consequently little ,-Rpirit existed in the demand for them and bidding dragged on in an injured and harassed maimer among that portion of the trade who depend upon the market for the most part for their beef supplies, many indeed holding aloof from operating at all, by way of protest, Tho continuance of consignments of this nature cannot but act detrimentally in every direction to all concerned. The cows, however, were a useful lot, but made unsatisfactory rates, the sales being affected by the depression that had manifested itself unmistakably at an early part of the day, 110 doubt aggravated by the cold and bleak weather that prevailed. The vealers were not so good as at last market, and mado lower rates. Sheep were entered in rather more more average supply, and ranging from light to medium weights; all being wethers, and the majority suitable for freezing purposes, bidding rau briskly, The whole entry sold readily at auction at prices equal to last market. Baconers and porkers in modorate supply, the former stlling really well; the latter, however, were not in proportionrte demand, Some of the stronger stores showed a slight impaovement upon late rates. Bullocks, £3l7s Gd to £4 5s averaging £4 2s 8d; cows and heifers, £2l7s Gd to £3 ss, averaging £2 IDs; vealers, lis to 18s. Pigs—Baconers, £2 Is to £2 12s Gd, one large size £3; small baconers, £l7s; porkers, £1; small do, lGs; stores lis to 15s.
