MANSLAUGHTER. Napier, July 5. The inquest on the body of Turanga Karauria, who was shot at Ouialm on June lGth, was concluded this afternoon. No additional facts have been brought to light. After the Coroner summed up, pointing out the difference, between murder and manslaughter, the jury retired, and in half an hour brought in a verdict equivalent to manslaughter against the prisoner Waatara. Tho Coroner sent them back to reconsider their verdict, telling them it was dead against the evidence, and he read the definitions of what constituted murder and what manslaughter. The jury came hack after a time, saying they could find no other verdict than manslaughter. The Coroner repeated that such, a verdict could not bo justifiod on the evidence, but he would accept it, and order the depositions to he sent to the Resident Magistrate for further investigation, and the prisoner to be charged before tho Magistrate with wilful murder.
