The Payno Family appeared again to a Masterton audience last nisht, and carried out an entirely new programmo in a manner fully appreciated by those who had tho gooil fortuno to witness it. Beforo tho concluding song was rendered Mr Payno took the opportunity to thank the visitors for their patronage. On Thursday morning as Mr Edwin Johnson, tho milkman, was driving home after his usual round tho hainos atrap broke and, there being nothing to preventitjtho principal part of the harness camo off the horse, the shafts of the cart being freed went up in the air, with the result that the occupants of tho cart, Mr Johnson, his son, and a little boy belonging to one of his customtrs, wore shot violently out into tho road and tho milk-cans wire scattered in all directions, Tho reins had got entangled and prevented the horso fJom clearing out, hut the animal started kicking at a furious rate and smashed the cart about considerable. He also kicked Mr Johnson on the arm. Fortunately somo residents in tho neighbourhood attracted by the noise ran out and promptly rondered tho necessary help required to put things straight. Tho harness was temporarily repaired, and tho horse was replaced in tho shafts. Tho casualties amounted to a severely sprained shoulder aud a kick on the left fore-arm to Mr Johnson, but fortunately no broken bones, his son was sovoroly bruised on both legs, the cart having passed over them and the little boy was suffering from a slight concussion he having been pitched on his head. The .cart, was a partial wreck, one side and tho splaslj board bejng demolished. The latter was cpnvfiy.ed to the coach factory and soon put in repair- Mr Johnson wasattended to by Dr Milno.but it wiff bp three weeks before ho will bo abla to resume milking operatiohs.
