Fatal Bush Accident, i (From Our Own Correspondent), j Saturday, Juno 29th, it was reported to tho police that a man | named Kane had been killed by a 1 falling tree about five miles hack 111. , the bush. The constable and a party 1 of men have gone oat to bring in tho body. Just in with the bidy 7.30 p.m. An inquest will beheld on Monday at Kelliher's Hotol; Eketahuna, Monday, July 1, An inquest was held this morning by Mr Alexander Anderson, J,P., and a jury of six. Mr Thomas Parsons was chosen foreman. The first witness called' was Joseph Bassett, who deposed that he was felling bush on one section and tho deceased Mark Kane on an adjoining section. Witness called out to deceased to clear out as 110 thought the tree was going his way. Kane was only one and a half chains from him. Warned him again four or five minutes before the tree foil to get towards the standing bush. He must have misunderstood witness and went towards the falling tree. Kane was falling a boundary line for Mr Roy. George Devonport,mate of Bassett's, gave similar evidence, Kane was working by'himself.
