Correspondence.

Agricultural and Pastoral Association,

(To the Editor,)

Sir—ln your leading article of 261b March, (which I saw last evening on my, return from Masterton) you say " The large exhibitors of tbis district in fostering a Wellington Association are practically deserting our Show grounds." Is this assertion a fact or is it not misleading? It is now universally admitted that ono annual show is not only sufficient, but best for tho Wairarapa. Now who are amougst the most aotivo and sincere to bring about this result 1 Why three of tho principal exhibitors namely, Messrs Mathews, Bidwill and myself. If we had the least intention of "deserting (he district" should wo hare acted as we have, should we not rather have resigned our connection with the present Association and let themdriftascircumstancealedJßutno, we have and are still doing all we oan to get one annual show, This I. think proves we' have the interest of the district at heart, thus your remarks aro not in accordance with facts, Some time since I feared the desirable result would not bo accomplished but the great revolution in that direction within the last few months makes me sanguine it will take place ere long and, with a united Wairarapa, we shall vie with Wellington'or any other show in the North Island, and not run behind in quality if we may sometimes in numbers, I am, etc.,
