BANKRUPTCY.

A first meeting of creditors in the estate of Edwin King, butcher, of Carterton, was held in the Old Court House, Mastertou, on Friday. Mr W, Sellar, Deputy Assignee, presided, Mr Bunny appeared for the Deputy Assignee, Mr Beard for the debtor, and Mr Skipper for certain creditors. About a dozen creditors were present.

The debtor deposed that he was in partnership with Mr B, S. Buokeridge/ trading as butchers, up till recently. Wilton purchased, the plant',from debtor's father on 20th and purchased cattlo from him on 21st December. If Buokeridge would have gone out of the business he >could have arranged. He denied that Wilton was carrying on for him. Would swear the firm owed Wilton for wages £2O. If Wilton said he had been paid in lull he told a lie, There were two ledgers and a 'day book. Knew in November he was in difficulties, and knew it was not usual to ask people to endorse bills undflpsuclo circumstances, Had called upon Mm E.
