CORRESPONDENCE.
The Albert Street Blockade.
To The Editor,
SSr.— In respect to the paragraph which appeared in Saturday's papor, to the effect that ono of the thoroughfares to the Railway Station—Albert Street—had been converted into a cul-de-sac by boing fenced at its northern ond, I may state the plan of Wrigley'e Estate was accepted and passed by tho Borough Council on condition that Albert Street and Viotoria Street were carried through to connect with Villa Street, Mr Wrigley, I understand, bought and paid for land for that purpose, and in the case of Victoria Street the condition ban been complied with. In respect to Albert Street, the owner of the land was a man named Smith, a carpenter, who had mortgaged the property. Smith sold and received payment for the land required for read purposes. The owner, I believe, sold tho required land to Mr Wrigley for road purposes, but the latter failed to secure a conveyance, and it was found afterwards that the land was mortgaged, and the mortgagee had not been made, a party to the sale. As the property ultimately fell into the hands of the latter, and the title shows his right to the full section, there was nothing to prevent his taking tho present action in fencing in his own land. Property owners in Albert Street have a right to claim from the Borough Counoil, a road through to Villa Street, and that body ought to take prompt action to see they are not deprived of it. I am, etc, Pound.
