Wellington, Wednesday. The cable steamer, Sherard Osborne lias arrived. The weather being now favorable she will probably commence work at once. Nothing definitely is known, however, as Dr Lemon is away, but returns to-day. ■
Two ounce quartz. WoodviMjE, May 16. A test of quartz in the vicinity of the Maliarahara copper mines gave a yield of two ounces of gold and two ounces of silver to the ton. The promoters of the copper mining company are calling for tenders for driving into the lode on a low level.
