WHAREAMA ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Board was held on Friday last, .Present— Messss R. L\. Meredith (Chairman), E, Meredith, 11. R. Elder, and J. Morrison, The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The following resolutions were passed That the Board declines to take over the maintenance 'of main roads within tho District. That Messrs Bell, Gully & Izard bo requested to accept service of a writ for £SOO at the instance of Mr R. R. Meredith, and that on behalf of the inhabitants of the Whareama Road District, thoy take the necessary steps in connection therewith, Mr E, Meredith voted against this resolution, That Mr Eawsou bo requested to furnish the Board with a detailed statement of the amount of his aocount. The Clerk was instructed to intimate to the Masterton Road Board that consideration of tiio account between tho two Boards would bo held over for a full meeting, The following notice of motion was tabled by Mr Mooro That the resolution postponing the consideration of the letter of the Masterton Road Board dealing with the payment of the sum due to that Board until a full Board was present, be rescinded. The following motion was put but lapsed " That the Clerk be instructed to inform Mr R. R. Meredith in reply to his jetter of the 16th March, that the Board has already entered upon the road referred to, and has commenced the formation thereof, without fencing the same on both sides. The annual meeting of ratepayers was fixed for the 6th May, and instructions were given to the R-turning Officer to take the necessary stpps to fill the vacancies which occur in the Board bv rotation, and also (ill the extraordinary vacancy caused by the non-attendance of Mace.
