' Dunkdin, February 9. The Directors' report of the Westport Coal Company states that after deducting all costs and charges there is a balance to credit of 19936, from which it is proposed to pay a dividend or per cent, absorbing £5197, and carry forward a balance of £3388.

NAPIER RAM FAIR.

There was a fair attendance at the Ram Fair. The best sheep on the ground were Ormond's, although Tanner's animals were a splendid lot. One of the rams from Tanner's flock was run up to 52 guineas, at which price it was withdrawn from sale. One nicely shaped but rather small animal from Mr Ormond's flock brought 22 guineas. The Canterbury rams offered sold at prices ranging from 2,8, and 4 guineas to 6 guineas, and a number of Gaisfords were quoted at 2, 8, and 4 guineas. A lot of Mr Eeid's Roinney Marsh rams were commented upon as good animals, but there was little competition for them. The Hawkes Bay breeders as a rule, are not going in for this class of sheep. Prices generally were higher than those of last year, and in many instances ranged from 8 to 20 guineas,
