PARLIAMENTARY
In the Legislative Council yesterday Dr Menzies moved that during the recess the Government should be instructed to prepare a bill declaratory of the Government being the possessors of all running waters. The Attorney-General said that owing to the conflicting interests of,Y persons engaged in pastoral J& pursuits, who were concerned in water rights.it was doubtful if the .motion would-expedite matters much. . Ultimately the debate on the subject was adjourned for a week.
Iu the House of Representatives, the Sheep Act Amendment Bill was - read a third time and passed, The Loan Bill was discussed and tho schedule of items was variously amended, it being agreed to that the g amount of the loan was not to exceed 8 oue million. The third reading of the bill was set down for to-day. The Premier said ho proposed.to ask the House next day to continue the San Francisco mail service for a year longer on the same terms.
