EDUCATION BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the educn|r* • tion Board was held in the Board's office yesterday morning, there being present Messrs K. Bunny (in the chair) A. W. Brown, P. H. Fraser, G. Bee-> tham, M.H.R, Rev J, Paterson, and Dr Newman, M,H.R, A discussion took place with reference to. a circular warning teachers to prepare for reductions, which has appeared in the news- ' papers, Dr Neivman asserting that the Finance Committee, had no right to send out the circular It appeared that tho circular which had appeared in the papers was slightly different ,'' from that sent to the teachers. After 'n some discission Dr Newman intimated that he intendad to call the Finance Committee together to consider the matter. He considered it could lie bo arranged that the teachers salaries would not be affected. The subject then dropped. It was decided' to award the scholarships to the successful students. An application by the Fernridge Committee that the schoolresidence should be roofed with iron,jk was allowed to stand over. The resig-*? nation of C. Tait, pupil teacher at { Mount Cook Girl's School was received and accepted. It was decided to grant a sum not exceeding L 3 for the purpose of adding a closet to the school residence at Porirua, Three months leave of absence, without salary, was granted to Miss Davies, of the Thorndon School. It was decided to provide 23 additional desks for tho Maaterfcpii School. A letter was received from Mr Coleman Phillips, containing a ■■ form of prayer for. use in schools,' No action was taken. It was decided that as the Training School had been aboj, ished, the boundaries of the Terrace School should la the same as before tlie institution of; the Training College, Several other matters being dealt with, '• the Board adjourned,—N.
