BUSH ELOPEMENTS.

An elopement fever has set in, and ns a consequence we have two cases to report—one from Eketahuna and the other from Fahiatua. The wife of a respectable citizen at Eketahuna took it into her head on Friday last to uiake off with another man, leaving a small family (an .eight months' old babe) for the father to take cate of. So far aa wo can learn the deserted husband intends to take no steps to recover his wife. The Pahiatua cise is more interesting. Three men were working in the Mangahao bushfelling, one of whom was married, the wife living at the camp. They completed the work, and the man and wife and another of the party went to Woodville to draw the cheque, They secured the money, and the married man getting excited .with being too much in the sun was taken to a safe place near the court house, where he remained twenty-four hours; Meantime the other joker, being somewhat of a goumtml, made tracks with his mate's wife. The husband is now very disconsolate, and admits having been dm brown. There is also a rumor that the gourmand; besides taking another man's wife, alsb took a third man's share in the contract.
