MR BUCHANAN AT MORRISON'S BUSH.

Mb Buchanan's meeting at Morrison's Bush on Monday night was well attended, notwithstanding that the weather was exceedingly boisterous, a heavy hail storm prevailing at the tiiiio. Mr John Hodge presided. Tho school room was conveniently filled, and the speaker's .remarks were frequently applauded. Mr Thornton asked Mr Buchanan if an elective Governor could not be procured from among the'settlers in New Zealand. Mr Buchanan replied that the tima had not yet arrived for such a change, aa among the fow to select from there might he a chance of an elective Governor being accused of a political bias. Mr G. Kcuipton asked Mr Buchanan, amidst much laughter, if he would be in;favor of importing Kaffirs from Africa, so as to cut down the price paid for shearing. Mr Buchanan smilingly replied that he did not think Kaffirs were required in New Zealand.

Mr Hodge proposed, and Mr Pole seconded, a vote of thanks to the Candidate, and the motion was carriod amid loud and prolonged applause, A vote of thanks to the Chairman, concluded the meeting.
