Alfredton Correspondence and other local matter, is crowded out of our present issue. Mr C. Pharazyn will deliver a popular lecturo in St. Mathew's schoolroom tomorrow evening—Friday, the subject being " What I have seen in Europe." MrW.H. Ingram, Watchmaker and Jeweller of Lambton Quay Wellington announces that he is the sole agent in the Wellington district for the repairs and material for tho Watebury Watch Company. Great disappointment was felt at the meeting in the Theatre last evening, owing to the non-appoaranco of " Ivo " on the platform, as a report had been freely circulated through the town that he would'bo present to, "have it out-' with Mr Hogg, and large numbers were present in anticipation of some fun. Messrs Lowe3 and loms report at their stock sale yesterday all linos advertised came forward and sold freely. Sheep sold at a trifle higher rates than last sales. In cattle the entries were limited. The following are the prices obtained; heavy fat Lincoln wethers ranged from 10s 9d to lis 7d; heavy fat Lincoln ewes 8s to 10s 3d; forward welhors 8s to 9s; small and medium wethers 6s fld to 7s 3d; dry ewes 7b 3d to 7s 6d; good Lincoln owob in lamb,7s to 7s 3d; cross breds 2s lid to ss, A line of small bsef, mixed sexes, made L 4 'per head. Several horßes changod hands, but prices ruled low. In pigs the entries were mostly large and thoy ranged from 11b to 3ls. The death is- recorded of Mr Frauk Knowles, a gentlemen who was well, known aud respected throughout the Wellington Province. He was for some years Resident Distriot Survoyor for the Wanganui District, and had been for over thirty years staff surveyor in the Government aervico. Failing health had compelled him to abandon the exposure of field service, and he entered the survey office in Wellington.
