Mr J. Hickton gave a Horse taming exhibition in the Theatre Royal, Masterton, on Saturday evening but owing to the unfavorable weather, the attendance was somewhat limited. Mr Hickton Bucceeded in roping and completely Bubduing an-unbroken colt, in full view of the audience. The animal waa the property of Mr E Hare, and had not been handled before Saturday last, Within ten minutes of the rise of the curtain, th» colt was lying quietly on the stage, with the" tamer" crawling between its legs, and also placing them around his. nock. When the animal regained its feet, itappeared perfectly conquered, and allowed a boy to ride it around the stage, and also obeyed the will of Mr Hickton in backing, or moving forward. The second part consisted of a performance with the trick pony Admiral, but he was evidently out of his elements on the boards, and showed ut desiro to escape the glare of the gaslight, and the applause of the audience.
