The election of Mr R. S. Hawkins on Saturday last as President of the Masterton Pastoral Association was extremely satisfactory. On the eve of a general election, evon farmers will be divided on political questions, but to introduce such differences in any way into a Pastoral Association would be injurious to a non-political institution. Mr R, S. Hawkins, by the attention he has given to his duties, has earned the position to which he has now been reappointed, and we can heartily erdorso the sensible conduct of the members of the Association in discarding all political considerations in the election df their officers.
