EKETAHUNA ROAD BOARD.
Ah ordinary meeting of this Board was held at the offieo of the Board on the 13th insfc. Present—Messrs Bayliss (Chairman), Anderson, McDonald, Nilson, and Vince. The minutes of tlio previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence,—From Commissioner of Crown Lands, re the contract onMangaone Valley road, and the payment of the money to the credit of the Board from deferred payment and leasehold sections; from the Chairman Wairarapa East County Council asking the Board to join the County Council and other bodies in sending a deputation to the Minister of Public Works and Lands, on the subject of the maintenance of the Forty-Milo Bush road; from Clerk of County Council with permission to the Board to metal parts of the Alfredtonroad, and informing tho Board that the Council was negotiating with Mr McLachlan for an exchange l of the office at Eketahuna for a site for a pound; from Colonial Treasurer, with precis of Loan to Local Bodies Act, J
It was resolved that the County Councillor for tho Riding represent the Eketahuna Road Board in the deputation to the Minister of Public Works on the subject of the Bush road. Messrs Bayliss, Anderson and Nikon were appointed a committee to inako enquiries respecting the building of a new offico for tho Board.
The resolution passed on the 9th of October bringing the district generally under the provisions of the Loans to Local Bodies Act was confirmed by the Board,
Accounts amounting to £66 16j 5d were passed for payment, The following tenders were received for metalling 30 chains on the Alfredtou Road: J. McMillan (accepted) '.contracts Ho. land 2.at £3l9s 6d per chain;
Donald McKenzie, (declined) contnwt 1, at £i 4s per chain ; same, contract 2, at £4 fls per chain; A. Anderson, contracts 1 and 2, at £4 Bs 6d per chain; J.. A. Jredricksen, contract 1, at £4 per chain, aud No 2 at £4 3s (id per chain.
Mr McDonald was empowered to spend £2l7s 6d (the balance remaining due) in , repairs on the Central Mangaone Rt»d. , The Chairman was to see Messrs Reef ter and Harding about timber for culviitti' .on the Margione Valley Road.' . ( • The meeting then adjourned,
