VISIT OF THE NEW SOUTH WALES

TEAM. The Reception Committee in connection with the visit of the Sydney team met last evening, tho following gentlemeu being present—Messrs W. McKensie (in tho chair), H. Williami, T. G. Mason, R. Fitton. ,W. Porry, J. Williams, W. Rapp, W. Hirachberg, J. Kibblewhite, and S. H. Wickerson, Mr Wickerson was appointed Secretary and Treasurer to the Committee. It was resolved that the visiting team bo invited to a dinner in the evening, and that Messrs Fitton, Hirsohberg and Wickerson bo a sub-com-mittee t/anwe for the same, also to make arrangements for the accomodation of the visitors during their stay in Masterton. Messrs W. Perry and Mason were appointed a committee to wait on His Worship the Mayor, and the business people of Masterton to get'a half-holiday .proclaimed on the day.of the match, Messrs H. Williams, Fitton, Mason, and J. Williams were appointed, to recoivo tho visitors, and to provide for the conveyance of the team from the Railway Station, and to and from thetioldof play, The Secretary was requested to provide distinguishing badges for the committee, who will assist in keeping the ground clear, and also to ask the assistance of Sergeant Price in keeping the orowd from encroaching on the -field of play. After making arrangements for minor matters, the meeting adjourned till Thursday evening next, when the Union Secretary, Mr F. W. Jackson, will be present.

The Coßtumo football match will take place, weathor permitting, on'the liaaterton Club ground, on Thursday afternoon next, The following team has been finally picked to represent Wellington In the forthcoming intercolonial match with New South Wales next Saturday:— Full baok, L, Dixon ; three-quarter backs, Fairbrother, G. Pearce, Stook ; half backs, Roberta- and Merlet; forwards, Cooper, Connal, Ellison, King, M'hstrye, Storey, Smith, Taiarpa, and Williams.
