THE WAINUIORU BRIDGE ACCIDENT.
[To the Editor,] Sir.—The report in Monday's Issue of the Daily oil the Waimiioru bridge accident is Tory inaccurate and misleading, • When th» accident occurred the piers on both banks and the scaffolding on which the trusses weretobeerected was built. Threo of the chords woro placed in position on thescaffolding-twolowerchordij and a top one, The web members which connect the chords together and form a truss were not in place, so that the whole was dependant on the stability of the scaffolding, or false work, Two or three days more would hare placed the bridge beyond danger from ffoods, as the several parts of the trusses would then hare been connected, and consequently not dependant on the scaffolding for Bupport, It would take the staff of Workman employed on the works at least a fortnight of fine weather to complete the contract after' the trusses were erected.
