FEATHERSTON-THURSDAY.

(Before J. Donald, W Niohols, and G, Reynolds, J.P.'s)

Thomas Petersen was charged on the information of Robert McLellan with having stolen a waterproof coat from the Maryborough Hotel on the 13th inst.. The prisoner pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to fourteen days hard labor. William Cranmer was charged by Constable Smith with a breach of the 155 th section of the Licensing Act, 1881, by keeping his house open on the Ist April after hours for the sale of 'liquors. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and after hearing the evidence of two witneßses, the Court dismissed the information. Constable Smith applied for prohibition orders under the Licensing Act, 1881, against George William Hodder and John Webber. Orders were made prohibiting the sale of liquors to these two persons for the space of one year, John Duke Cox was oharged by Constable Smith with having taken part in a lottery by exhibiting a- placard relating thereto, and also by exhibiting certain articles as the prizes to be gained in the lottery. Defendant pleaded guilty, and asked the Court to deal leniently with him as he had done it in ignorance, Tho prosecutor not wishing to press the case, tho defendant was fined Is and costs 13s, There were no civil caseß for hearing.
