FOOTBALL.
Wairarapa Rugby Football Union, A General meeting of the above Union was held at Carterton on Saturday evening, Mr F. W. R. Seed presiding. Tho followingdelenateswero present Messrs Wickerson, Webster, Beard and Dempsey. • Rules for the guidance of the Union were submitted by the Greytown delegates, and discussed seriatim, and adopted with slight amendments, It was decided that the representative colors be green jerseys and stockings, black knickerbockers, and black velvet cap, the jersey and cap to have tho initials W.R.F.U. on them. That No. 5 be recognized match balls of the Union, That the Secretary write to tho other Unions in New Zealand, re the formation of the Wairarapa Union, with a view to arranging matches during the season. Messrs Wickerson, McKonzie, Webster, Beard, and Dempsey were elected as a management committee, and Messrs Seed, McKenzie, and Maguire as a Match Committco, Mr W. Bishop offered the free use of the Pastoral grounds during the season, and pronged to removo all obstruction from the field of play. Tho offer was accepted with thanks, and the Carterton delegates were appointed to arrange with Mr Bishop re the same, and to pc? off the most suitable portion for Union matches. It was decided that the management committee arrange the date for matches between the Union clubs, so as to avoid waste of time during tho season. It was resolved that a junior cup be offered for competition this Beason, the rules for playing for the same to be drawn up by the management committee. Letters were received from Messrs W, 0. Buchanan and A, R, Bunny, accepting the positions of Patron and Vice President respectively. A letter was received from Mr A. T, Bate, with information re the English Union, and offering assistance in getting the Wairarapa Union affiliated to the English Union, whichjwas accepted with thanks, The Secretary was requested to get the rules printed and distributed. About 30 members of the Masterton Football Clubs turned out on Saturday afternoon, wlion a scratch match was played, tho form shown being a great improvement to that. on the previous Saturday, there beine more unity of action and less wild play observable. Ten of tlio Greytown fifafc team played the all-comers on Saturday, the latter at times numbering about twenty. Two spells of half-'an-hour each were put in, the work being very hard. The old hands were conspicuous by their good form, although among the all-comers, several stood out prominently in various parts of the game, which augers well for the imputation of the red, blue, and .black this Beason. Ab the football match Greytown v Carterton arranged for Saturday next has fallen through, aa endeavor will be made
to play Maßtertori v. Greytown on that day. As both ; clubs meet the Wellington team during Easter, the practice is greatly needed to ensure the success'of th* country teams. The following team will represent th» Rod Stars in tho match with tho (Tiitl Club to be played on Good' Friday l : Back, D'Xrcy; half backs,' Hawke : and Watson; quarter backs, Karaitaria, Baumber, .and Thompson; forwards, Emmett, (Captain) Hoar, Martin,- E.
