MASTERTON ROAD BOARD.

The regular monthly mooting of tho Board was held on Saturday, Present.— Mobei'3 Dngg (in the chair), Meredith, Johnston, Gunderson, and Welch, A telegram was read from the Chairman, Mr \V, H. Boethara, stating his inability to attend. Correspondence From Commissioner of Crown Lands approving of tho proposal for expenditure of £144 Is lid deferred payment thirds. From James Wilton asking permission to erect a temporary gate on the Kopuaranga road. From-W. Falconer, asking permission to put a tramway alongside of the road.to take timber to his mill. From County East enclosing circular on Local Government Finance. From Messrs Stuckey Holmes and others asking that they,Vmay be paid out of tho general rates, From J, Joseph re a road through his property, From Masterton Borough Council ro exchange of roads. Commissioner of Crown Lands, re special rates. From Messrs Beetham, asking assistance to be given them in metalling part of the Wainuioru Road. Petition from ratepayers asking that a part of the Upper Fernridgo may bo metalled. Petition from ratepayers asking that a portion of the road from Railway crossing, Manaia, may be metalled. Resolutions—That all petitions relating to repairs of roads be held over till the new Boards meet. That the petition asking for special rates to be changed into general were also held over. That, the petition of. Messrs Beethara be granted, and that the Board assist them in repairing the Wainuioru road. That James Wilton have liberty to erect a.temporary gato on tho Wangaehu road. W, Falconer's application to lay a tramway alongside the road was granted, subject to certain conditions. That the exchange of roads with thfe Masterton Borough be agreed to. That this Board commends for the consideration of tho next Board the importance of taking action upon Resolution 8 of the Conference of Delegates of County Councils held in Wellington in July, 1885. Accounts to the ainount of £2Ol 4s were passed for payment.
