MR TOLE AT AUCKLAND.

(United Press Association.) Auckland, this day. Mr Tole addressed his constituents last evening. He said that if a coalition between Grey and Atkinson had been possible in ;ißß4'fhey would hap had his support. Mjmpn jiv tb'jjt year oifere/l Kima'pprtfblip'ip his Ministry, but he declined.; Tlie, present- coalition secured the only way in which business could be

done, and he joined it with tho approval of Grey and the party he. had been acting with, for years. He then referred at length 1 to the work of the past two sessions- and detailed : the Government measures which had been passed. Regarding the futuro policy of tho Government, about which the Ministers seemed protty well agreed,-the thought the matter had not been settled in Cabinet, he might say at once that it was a vigorous prosecution of public works, especially railways. How much had been lost by non-completion of the Northern Trunk and the north of Auckland lines. The south Island West Coast Railway would have to be made, though not in favor in Auckland, Auckland complained of not getting a fair share of public works, but it was the fault of those eight or nine members who assented in cutting down estimates, Borrowing should be postponed till after the passing of the Land Tax to secure unearned increment, but a vigorous policy would not impede the consideration of these questions, and for another reason dissolution was necessary to enable the country to pronounce emphatically upon the Government policy, but the Ministry had no promise that a dissolution would be granted. A vote of thanks and confidence was passed with only one dissentient. An amendment, expressing repret that Mr Tole had joined Sir Julius Vogel was lost by an overwhelming majority.
