[From our own Correspondent.] The weather lias at length broken, and there is a most welcome downpour of what has every appearance of being a steady rain, This has just come in time, as even t.he larger Btreams were ceasing to flow, and in some back country camps, work had to be knocked off for want of water.

There was a very pleasant meeting last week at Whakataki, when Mr Sheath, who has for the last five years been manager of the Hon. W. Johnston's Mataikuna run, and who is now about to leave, was presented witlr a testimonial by the station hands. The presentation, which consirtod of' an elegant tea and coffee service, was made at Mr Wilson's Whakataki Hotel, where an excellent repast was provided by the host, which was done full justice to by.the company. Mr Sheath'B departure will be a loss to the district, He has made himself deservedly popular both in private life and as an employer, and has taken a leading part in racing and other matters, and I am only echoing the sentiment of all classes in wishing him every prosperity in his future career.
