Ninety-six men were engaged yesterday, and proceeded to Melbourne by the Manapouri, . At the Presbyterian Synod meeting, a satisfactory report by the temperance Committee was adopted. All the ministers of the church, save five, aro pledged abstainers.
Auckland, this day. Another color has been given to the Waikato mystery. Two men named McElroy, and Gallfoyle, made a statement to the police that they observed a body floating down the Waikato River on December the 20th, and the body is supposed to be that of Dunbar.
A fire broke out yesterday afternoon at H. Waites oiglit roomed residence Mount Eden, and spread to C. D, Sykeß seven roomed residence adjoining. Both ■were destroyed.
