CORRESPONDENCE.
To thb Editor. Sir,—l beg.youwill aIW me to contradict a statement that .appeared in the Waieakapa Daily of the 14th instant, under the. heading, "The severed hand mystery." Your report stateß: It is- a somewhat ourious circumstance that the sexton, who did not quite complete his work of filling in the grave, of Mrs Rayner on tho 25th November, which was a general holiday, found that it had been completed for him when ho returned to the cemetery on the morning of the following day. He, however, paid littlo attention to the fact, thinking that some of the deceased lady's relatives had done the work. This statement iB entirely wrong. The grave was filled in immediately after tho funeral, and was finished by half past five o'clock, by 41fred Potter and myself. In the morning I found the gravo apparently as I loft it. I am,'etc, J. C, Ingram, Sexton.
