The Masterton Farmers' Club meet this afternoon at 3 o'clock at their club ,room, Temple Chambers. At a meeting of the directors of the Masteiton Theatre Royal Company held last evening, an offer was considered from Mr 6. Coker who-in the past has secured a high reputation as a caterer for publio amusements'to lease the Theatre Royal at the expiration of the current agreement with Messrs Foley .and Berkley. It was decided to accept Mr Coker's offer for a period of one year. Masterton is just now infested with quite a number of specimens of the true genus loafer. There is every prospect that the poultry, fruit, and local produce show of the Wairarapa Pastoral .Society, which is to be held on the Society's grounds, Carterton, on Wednesday next, will prove highly successful. The entries received on Wednesday last are very numerous, and include, among others, 79 poultry, 17 dogs, and 16 pigeons, The display of fruits and flowers also promises to be very good. We have been shown some splendid samples of both, and expect that they will take a lot ef beating.

A concert in aid of the funds of St Mark's Church Choir was given at the Carterton Lyceum on T)uirsday evening,, A very good programme was got up for the occasion, and all the performers did their part 3 exceedingly well, The entertainment consisted of solos, duets, quartettee, &c., the performers being Mesdames Seed and Samuel, Miss Payne, and Messrs Wilson, Deller, Proctor, Downard, Gayfer, and, last but not least, Mr Foley, who kept tho audience in roars of laughter with his comicalities. 'The re-opening of the Masterton Presbytorian: Ohurch, to which extensive additions are, now being made, will be celebrated with a'tea and public meeting on. Monday, December 21st. . The report presented was adopted, the balance sheet-being held over to'be audited. Vol. A. Thompson was unanimously re-elected .Hon, Secretary, and Sergt, Dalrymple was elected Treasurer.' The usual match and- finance committees were also elected. The feeling of the meeting was taken as. to who should be elected Lieutenant, the choice falling on Yoi, A, Thompson, who, it is now understood, will come up at the hoxt meeting as the only candidate. Some discussion took place as to a new range, and it was eventually resolved to .accept an offer of a site on Sergt. Matthews' property on the eastern side of the Waipoua, and it" was resolved to remove the targets to-day.
