CASTLEPOINT ROAD BOARD.
The adjourned meeting of the Board was held on Saturday last. Present—Messrs Langdon, Maunsell and Warren.
The minutes of the previous meeting was read and confirmed.
The finance statement shewed a balanco in bank of £177 7s lOd, and balance available for future expenditure £328 15s.
Accounts amounting to £3l3slodwere passed for payment. Correspondence were read from Mr W. A. Burling requesting that a sum of money be voted to open a drain and fell some bush on the line of road to Woodland.
From the County Council asking the Board to reconsider the question of finding £122 19s to assist the Council in raising a loan under the Roads and Bridges Act for metalling in Mungapakelia,
From Mr Perry stating that he had not taken the week's leave of absence granted to him at the last meeting of the Board,
From Property Tax Commissioner re claim for rates on Native Lands,
From Survey office, re survey of road at Adams' Peak,
From Mr Groves, jon,, refusing to allow a road to be surveyed through his land at Mungapakeha. From Mr Handyside requesting leave of absence from meeting. From Mr Meredith, also requesting leave of absence for himself and .Mr Harvey. From Mr Grainger, applying for compensation for having to remove slips from the road at Akitio, after having finished his contract, ■
From Mr W. Liverton, requesting to be allowed a small grant to repair the road between the Packspur and Pakowai. Resolved—That Mr Liverton be authorised to repair the road between fcho Packspur and Pakowai. That Mr Grainger be allowed £5 compensation, and that leave of absence be granted to Messrs Handyside, Meredith, and Harvey. That Mr Perry be informed that it is dosirable that he should take his week's leave of absence from the 7th inst.
That a sum of £lO bo voted to improve the Pungaroa road leading to Mr W. A. Burling's property. That the question of finding £122 19b to assist the Council in metalling Mungapakeha road be postponed until next meeting, That the Property Tax Commissioner be informed that no rates have been received for current year for Native lands.
ThatMrGroves' letter bo acknowledged, and that he be informed that the question of roads to give access to Mr Bowling and and other properties in that neighborhood is under consideration.
That the County Council be requested to allow its Engineer to examine and report on the question of roads to give access to the owners of property to the West of the Mungapakeha. That a sum of £7 be voted to erect a culvert opposite the Telemph Office at Tinui.
That Mr J. Henderson be given notice to prepare metal to complete his contract on the flint cutting. The next meeting was fixed for Saturday, the 19th inst.
