LIBRARY COMMITTEE.
The monthly meeting of the Masterton Library Committee was held last night. Present—Messrs J. J, |erry, Masqq, and Ileese (lii the chair), The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
The Treasurer reported a credit balance at the Bank of £ls 6s 3d; rents due, £35 5s fid; rates returnable, £sl3s 9d; total, £56 5s 6d.
The following accounts were passed for payment Mrs Reilly £l3; Otago Daily Times £l6s; Secretary £lss; petty cash £lss 8d; M. Caselberg & Co. £1; total, £1716s Bd. Correspondence was read from the Wellington Atheimim, stating tljat fjjey hadryn out of printed rules', and that wi|en morq }yere'printed a copy wquld be fonvarc(e(j. ' ' Mr liednian mqyei}, and Mr Berry seconded, That the question' of issuing a printed catalogue of the bookg iri the Library bo considered, Mr Mason moved, and Mr Berry seconded, That the Secretary ascertain the cost of printing catalogues at per hundred, and submit the estimates to the Book Committee, to bring up a report at the next meeting.. The Secretary suggested tlio advisableness of having a standing advertisement placed in the two Masterton papers, sotting forth the advantages offered to the public by the institution. Mr Berry moved, and Mr Mason sccondedj That'an advertisement bo put in. the two papers fqr one quartpr { tq ascertajn what the result might be.

Mr Redman Walter Scott's works, ancUinfopn\ec} tlje meeting that a gentleman who W about to leave Mastorton woiM be happy to dispose of the complete set, consisting of 25 volumes, and quite now, for tl|§ JJHIT) of 2s per voluino, . Mr Berry moved, and Mr Smith seconded that the question of the purchase of Scott's works be referred to the Book Committee for their report. This concluded the business.
