UPPER TAUERU ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Board was held yesterday. Present-Messrs Hawkins (Chairman), Hood, Wingate, Mackay, and Rutherford. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. . A letter was read from Messrs Hood and Walker; applying for a loan under section 27 of the Roads and Bridges Construction Act in order to form a portion of the road extending from the end of the Maori gardens to Mr Maekay's property, A letter from Mr Rutherford was read on the same subject. It was resolved that the Chairman write to the Minister of Public Works and ask if any money is available under the Roads and Bridges Act for the year ensuing, and if the answer be in the affirmative, Messrs Hood, Rutherford, and other ratepayers in the district sign an agreement to repay the Board in the event of a loan not being raised. .It was resolved that instructions be given for the necessary plans and specifications for the road to be made, up to 20 chains above Mr Maekay's house. Mr Hood proposed, and Mr Wingate seconded, that Mr T. S. Farrer be appointed Returning Officer for the coming election. Mr Hood having certified that Mr T. Perry's works had been satisfactorily, completed, a cheque for the amount wa§ signed. Mr Wingate applied fpr the sum pf £5 4s for work done by L. Pull, which was passed for payment. The sum of £3lss Qd was pan} Mr Hood for work done on his property! It was resolved that the sum of £25 be allotted for the opening up of Mr Wingate's land,
