CORRESPONDENCE.

SALVATION ARMY PROCESSIONS. TO THE EDITOR Sib,—l believe the Captain of the Sal : vation Army Corps in Masterton has received a letter from the Borough Council asking him to discontinue the custom of marching through the streets with band, banner, and torches, I ask, sir, why should not the Salvation Army have the same privileges here as tliey enjoy elsewhere ? Is it because the Borough Council think that Masterton is so important that they cannot tolerate what other large cities of New Zealand permit ? In the densely crowded streets of London, twenty Army bands march in different directions every night, and these are not only allowed, but protected ; but in the Wairarapa they must not be permitted, even though they have only two little rush lights, a small flag, and a few brass instruments to alarm our over-sensitive city fathers. I, sir, with many of my fellow citizens, will certainly not expect them to make fish of ono and flesh of another, If the band is stopped in the street, thon we justly demand that all other bands be stoppod, and if the Army light is not permitted, then notice must certainly be sent to those who have fcliem elsewhere. If the Army cannot march with their band, will the Volunteers. be allowed, and if they are allowed, will the Council have acted justly ? Most certainly not, so I hopo they will not bo so foolish as to enforce such a measure in Masterton as that. I am, Ac,,. Fair Play.
